Since 2018, NOLA Spine Care has been a cornerstone of comprehensive chiropractic care in the New Orleans community. Dr. Rueben Carter leads a boutique office in Mid-City New Orleans, serving clients, mentoring student interns, and providing consultation on medical forensic cases.

Clinic Director
Originally from Marrero, LA, Dr. Carter holds a Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) degree from Life University in Marietta, GA. Proficient in various modalities, including diversified/manual adjusting, Thompson drop table technique, Sacro-occipital technique, Impulse instrument-assisted adjusting, and therapeutic exercise, Dr. Carter sets himself apart with his genuine concern, professionalism, trauma-informed care, and respect for all communities.
Throughout his career, he has treated government leaders, non-profit and corporate figures, professional athletes, and entertainment industry professionals. Beyond his practice, Dr. Carter enjoys the gym, yoga, international travel, comedy shows, film festivals, and quality time with friends and family.
To manage expectations for our neurodivergent or highly sensitive clients, and to help in matching you with someone who aligns with your own temperament/personality, his disposition may be described as: introverted, focused, analytical, calm, empathetic, and a flat/serious affect (he’s not upset, it’s just his face

Associate Chiropractor
Dr. Shelton is devoted to providing exceptional care to his patients. With a Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) degree from Logan University, he specializes in various techniques, including diversified/manual adjusting, Thompson drop table technique, instrument adjusting, rehabilitation protocols, and acupuncture-based meridian therapy. With an athletic background in baseball, Dr. Shelton has unique insights into shoulder rehabilitation, and has achieved great results with many athletes and their injuries.
Originally from St. Louis, MO, Dr. Shelton is passionate about helping individuals achieve optimal health and wellness. He believes in personalized, evidence-based care and fosters a supportive and inclusive environment where every patient feels respected, heard, and valued. His treatment philosophy revolves around empowering patients to take control of their health and creating a relationship based on empathy and a deep respect for patients’ unique needs.
In his free time, Dr. Shelton enjoys live music, golf, baseball, exploring New Orleans culture, walking his Golden Retriever mix, and tending to his houseplants!
Massage Therapist
Licensed Athletic Trainer and Massage Therapist, Jhané Garner, brings a wealth of experience. With a Bachelor’s in Athletic Training from LSU and a Master’s in Sports Management from FSU, she is the owner of Recoup 360, specializing in emergency care, recovery services, and sports rehabilitation. Having worked with Power 5 colleges and the NFL, Jhané offers our clients support in achieving their mobility and injury rehabilitation goals through manual therapy.

Executive Assistant
Since joining NOLA Spine Care in 2022 as Executive Assistant, Joanna Dominguez has been the driving force behind the clinic’s efficient operations. With a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the Philippines, Joanna brings a unique blend of clinical knowledge and organizational expertise to the team.
Her role encompasses a wide array of responsibilities, including managing administrative tasks, overseeing social media, ensuring a seamless experience for clients, and handling medical records management with precision and confidentiality.
Passionate about bringing patient care into the digital age, Joanna leverages technology by working remotely to improve processes, enhance communication, and ensure patients receive the highest quality care with efficiency and ease. When she’s not keeping things running smoothly at the clinic, Joanna loves unwinding with bullet journaling, tackling household chores, and spending quality time with her family.

Administrative Assistant
Rupesh Verma serves as NOLA Spine Care’s Administrative Assistant, providing essential support to ensure the smooth operation of the clinic’s administrative and medical-legal tasks. With over 9 years of remote experience in Chiropractic, Physical Therapy, and Pain Management offices, Rupesh is well-versed in medical-legal record reviews, deposition summaries, and assisting with workers’ compensation and personal injury cases.
Based in India and holding a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Rupesh combines his healthcare expertise with strong business management skills. Working closely with Joanna Dominguez, NOLA Spine Care’s Executive Assistant, Rupesh provides additional support for other administrative responsibilities to strengthen the clinic’s efficiency and operations.
In his free time, he enjoys playing cricket, traveling, and spending quality time with his family.
